On
the
3rd
of
March
2017
John
Blundall
would
have
been
80.
To
mark
the
anniversary
and
to
serve
as
a
lasting
tribute,
this
online
exhibition
of
his
work
has
been
created.
It
stretches
from
some
of
his
earliest
designs
to
his
last.
The
bulk
of
John’s
design
work
was
done
while
Artistic
Director
of
Cannon
Hill
Puppet
Theatre
so
makes
up
the
largest
part
of
the
exhibition.
Although
extensive
it
does
not
include
all
his
designs
given
that
some
shows
had
up
to
30
individual
characters,
rather
a
selection
from
most
of
the
productions
as
well
as
some
production
pictures of the finished plays.
The
links
below
will
take
you
to
different
areas
of
John
Blundall’s
career
starting
with
a
short
autobiography
written
when
he
turned
75.
This
is
followed
by
Cannon
Hill
Puppet
Theatre.
Live
theatre
is
next
which
includes
designs
for
the
Dudley
Hippodrome,
Crescent
Theatre
Birmingham
and
the
Midlands
Arts
Theatre
Company.
After
that
is
an
assortment
of
designs
ranging
from
his
own
early
company,
The
Festival
Marionettes,
Circus,
TV
and
Caricature
Puppet
Theatre.
Finally
there
is
a
link
to
a
number
of
galleries
containing
images
from
the
collection
that
John
put
together
throughout
his
life.
There
is
a
lot
here
to
see,
some
of
the
designs
have
been
exhibited
over
the
years
but
never all together.
